Week 13: 4/15/19

Drama 1 (1st Period)

Students will begin preparing for our comedy scene study unit. After having initially selecting a partner and then selecting a scene, coaching sessions of the scene will begin this week. Our Wednesday coaching sessions will continue this week with selected students presenting a monologue or musical theatre audition song for Wednesday Project coaching sessions.

Drama 2 (2nd Period)

Students will begin preparing for our scene study unit. After having initially selecting a partner and then selecting a scene, coaching sessions of the scene will begin this week. Our Wednesday coaching sessions will continue this week with selected students presenting a monologue or musical theatre audition song for Wednesday Project coaching sessions.

Drama 4 (3rd Period)
Drama 4 Project Rehearsals will continue this week. Students will then begin presenting the first run through of each project for the class and for comments.

Drama 3 (4th Period)
Students will continue rehearsing their Shakespearean scenes. Shakespearean monologue coaching sessions will also continue.

Week 12: 4/8/19

Drama 1 (1st Period)

Some 2nd period juries will be completed

Drama 3 (4th Period)
Students will continue rehearsing their Shakespearean scenes. Shakespearean monologue coaching sessions will also continue.

Drama 1 (1st Period)

All classes will participate in Drama juries this week. Students should prepare for and present jury audition monologues. Scene rehearsal will continue during the week.

Week 10: 3/18/19

Drama 1 (1st Period)

The scenes will be given a read-through in class and be give final approval for the rehearsal process to begin. Our Wednesday coaching sessions will continue this week with selected students presenting a monologue or musical theatre audition song for Wednesday Project coaching sessions. Preparations for juries, which are next week, should continue.

Drama 2 (2nd Period)
Students will begin preparing for our scene study unit, by initialing selecting a partner and then selecting a scene. The scenes will present a read-through in class and be give final approval for the rehearsal process to begin. Our Wednesday coaching sessions will continue this week with selected students presenting a monologue or musical theatre audition song for Wednesday Project coaching sessions. Monologue coaching sessions will be conducted on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday of this week. Preparations for juries, which are next week, should continue.

Drama 4 (3rd Period)
Students will continue the study of the Uta Hagen Technique with the presentation of a modified “Fourth Side” Exercise. Drama 4 Project auditions will begin as directors prepare and conduct student auditions.

Drama 3 (4th Period)
Students will continue working on a Shakespearean monologue and begin preparations for an assigned scene from Shakespeare to present for the Drama 3 Projects. Preparations for juries, which are next week, should continue.

Week 8: 3/4/19

Drama 1 (1st Period)
Students will begin final performances for their improvisation shows. Our Wednesday coaching sessions will continue this week with selected students presenting a monologue or musical theatre audition song for Wednesday Project coaching sessions.

Drama 2 (2nd Period)
Students will continue the study of actions (actioning in dramatic texts) and actor craft exercises. Students will continue to present short scenes in which they present their actioning of the text. Our Wednesday coaching sessions will continue this week with selected students presenting a monologue or musical theatre audition song for Wednesday Project coaching sessions.

Drama 4 (3rd Period)
Students will continue the study of the Uta Hagen Technique with exercises from her books Respect for Acting and A Challenge for the Actor. After applying “Three Entrances” from the first book and “Physical Destination” from the second book, students will begin preparing an exercise to present in class and. A modified “Fourth Side” Exercise will continue to be developed, rehearsed, and presented.  Short Scenes will be presented which begin to incorporate some of the Hagen principles with text. Students who have been absent due to Unified Auditions and All State Chorus will present exercises.

Drama 3 (4th Period)
Students will continue working on a Shakespearean monologue and continue working on their chosen sonnet. After having presented a first performance of the sonnet, students will receive notes on the performance. The video recording of the performance will be reviewed for self-evaluation. The Shakespearean monologue will be subject to a line check this week or in the coming days.  Students should have this memorized for presentation.

Week 7: 2/25/19

Drama 1 (1st Period)
Students will continue to present short scenes, which will serve as a preview of our upcoming unit in comedy.  Later in the week, students will, based on commentary and the viewing of the video of improvisation practice rounds, modify and prepare for final presentations of our improvisation shows. Our Wednesday coaching sessions will continue this week with selected students presenting a monologue or musical theatre audition song for Wednesday Project coaching sessions.

Drama 2 (2nd Period)
Students will continue the study of actions (actioning in dramatic texts) and actor craft exercises. Students will continue to present short scenes in which they present their actioning of the text. Week 6: 2/11/19

Drama 1 (1st Period)
Students will continue their study of improvisation this week, working within groups to develop an improvisation show consisting of 6-8 games to be presented for an audience in the coming weeks. Students will continue to present practice rounds for each other of their respective shows. At the end of the week, we will begin to present short scenes, which will serve as a preview of our upcoming unit in comedy.  Our Wednesday coaching sessions will continue this week with selected students presenting a monologue or musical theatre audition song for Wednesday Project coaching sessions.

Our Wednesday coaching sessions will continue this week with selected students presenting a monologue or musical theatre audition song for Wednesday Project coaching sessions.

Drama 3 (4th Period)
Students will continue working on a Shakespearean monologue and continue working on their chosen sonnet. After having presented their paraphrasing performance assignment in class (In Other Words), students will give a first performance of the sonnet for notes. The sonnet will be video recorded for later self-evalutation. The Shakespearean monologue will be subject to a line check this week or in the coming days.  Students should have this memorized for presentation.
