Drama 1 (1st Period)

Students are preparing a comedic scene for the application of the comedic principles from the physical comedy sketch assignment.  On Wednesday, coaching sessions for musical theatre and monologue selections will continue. Week 14: 4/16/18

Drama 2 (2nd and 4th Periods)

On Monday, students will begin the process of finding a scene for the final six weeks of the semester.  The scene will focus on the application of actor craft technique and the physical character work.  On Wednesday, coaching sessions for musical theatre and monologue selections will continue. Drama 4 (3rd Period)

Week 13: 4/9/18

Drama 1 (1st Period)

Students will begin final preparations for the physical comedy sketches on Monday and Tuesday, using the video performance and critique of their practice round to make modifications.  On Wednesday, coaching sessions for musical theatre and monologue selections will continue. The schedule for Wednesday Coaching Sessions is available here: Wednesday Coaching Schedule Students will present the final performances of their physical comedy sketches on Thursday.

Drama 2 (2nd and 4th Periods)

On Monday, students rehearse the scenes for their character observation assignments from before the break. On Tuesday, students will present these scenes.  On Wednesday, coaching sessions for musical theatre and monologue selections will continue. The schedule for Wednesday Coaching Sessions is available here: Wednesday Coaching Schedule Students will continue to present the scenes for their character observation assignments.  Thursday will be dedicated to diction and voice work.

Drama 4 (3rd Period)

We will continue our study of Ensemble Theatre, including Joseph Chaikin’s methods of material creation as developed by his work with the Open Theatre.  The three assigned groups will continue rehearsal for their ensemble theatre pieces with final performances on Thursday.
Students will continue the study and implementation of the techniques and exercises taught by Uta Hagen in her approach to actor training.  We will begin rehearsals for the Drama 4 Projects.

Week 12: 3/26/18

On Monday, students will present monologues and give interviews for their Drama Juries.  On Wednesday, coaching sessions for musical theatre and monologue selections will continue. Drama 2 (2nd and 4th Periods)

We will assign the physical character exercise and discuss the methods by which we will create this character.  Thursday will be dedicated to diction and voice work.  On Wednesday, coaching sessions for musical theatre and monologue selections will continue. Drama 4 (3rd Period)

We will resume  our study of Ensemble Theatre, including Joseph Chaikin’s methods of material creation as developed by his work with the Open Theatre.
Students will continue the study and implementation of the techniques and exercises taught by Uta Hagen in her approach to actor training.  We will also conduct auditions and callbacks for Drama 4 Projects.

On Monday, students will complete final performances for their improvisation shows, and on Tuesday, students will watch and critique the videos of the final performances of the improvisation shows.  On Wednesday, coaching sessions for musical theatre and monologue selections will continue.
