Week 10: March 15 – March 19, 2021

Drama 1 – 1st period
Final performances of the comedic scenes and monologues continue. Thursday Project coaching sessions also continue with the chosen monologue or musical theatre selection. These coaching sessions will be on Wednesday this week, as we will be discussing auditions for the next Drama Department production.
DRAMA 2 – 2ND PERIOD
Students will continue to study actor craft lessons focused on monologue work. Thursday Project coaching sessions continue this week with their chosen monologue or musical theatre selection. These coaching sessions will be on Wednesday this week, as on Thursday, we will be discussing auditions for the next Drama Department production.
DRAMA 4 – 3RD PERIOD
Any remaining monologues (Uta Hagen) will be presented early in the week. Drama 4 Projects (student-directed works) pitches to the class continue this week. Directing discussion and readings will continue this week, and on Thursday, we will be discussing auditions for the next Drama Department production.
DRAMA 3 – 4TH PERIOD
First performance of the assigned sonnet will continue this week. Shakespearean monologue coaching sessions will continue this week. On Thursday, we will be discussing auditions for the next Drama Department production.

Week 9: March 8 – March 12, 2021

Drama 1 – 1st period
Students begin presenting drafts of their original scenes, while final performances of the comedic scenes begin. Thursday Project coaching sessions continue with the chosen monologue or musical theatre selection.
DRAMA 2 – 2ND PERIOD
During the beginning of the week, students will be presenting their short actioning scenes. To aid in jury preparations, students will also continue to study actor craft lessons focused on monologue work. Thursday Project coaching sessions continue this week with their chosen monologue or musical theatre selection.
DRAMA 4 – 3RD PERIOD

Week 8: March 5 – February 26, 2021

Drama 1 – 1st period
We will continue this week presenting practice rounds of our comedic scenes. Thursday Project coaching sessions continue with the chosen monologue or musical theatre selection.
DRAMA 2 – 2ND PERIOD
Students will resume our work on actioning, finalizing actions and their corresponding beats within the scene, matching action verbs to the acting moments. Precision of verb choice and words that are specific to the actor’s intent will be emphasized. Thursday Project coaching sessions continue this week with their chosen monologue or musical theatre selection.
DRAMA 4 – 3RD PERIOD
Students will conclude presenting monologues which will be analyzed and coached from the perspective of the Hagen acting method. Using the Hagen coaching methods taught in class thus far, students who wish to do so will assume the role of acting coach and work on pieces with their peers. We will finalize dates for Drama 4 Projects (student-directed works) pitches to the class; these begin this week.
DRAMA 3 – 4TH PERIOD
First performance of the assigned sonnet will continue this week. Shakespearean monologue coaching sessions will resume, as well. Asynchronous rehearsal time will be given on Friday, due to a planned teacher absence.

Week 7: February 22 – February 26, 2021

Drama 1 – 1st period
After our week-long break, most students have completed their comedic scene line checks and some have completed their scene practice rounds. We continue presenting practice rounds of these comedic scenes. Thursday Project coaching sessions continue this week with their chosen monologue or musical theatre selection.
DRAMA 2 – 2ND PERIOD
We will be continuing our work on actioning, finalizing actions and their corresponding beats within the scene. Students will finetune their action selections, crafting their actions to meet the actual acting outcome. Thursday Project coaching sessions will begin this week. Thursday Project coaching sessions continue this week with their chosen monologue or musical theatre selection.
DRAMA 4 – 3RD PERIOD
Students will continue to present monologues from last semester. Each monologue will be analyzed from the perspective of the Hagen acting method. Students will continue working on short scenes using the Hagen Method. We will also conduct a classroom forum and discuss the expectations, pros, and cons of the virtual college audition.
DRAMA 3 – 4TH PERIOD
Working on Shakespearean sonnets will continue with exercises for performance. Shakespearean monologue coaching sessions will continue this week. First performance of the assigned sonnet will be on Thursday.

Week 6: February 8 – February 12, 2021

Drama 1 – 1st period, DRAMA 2 – 2ND PERIOD, DRAMA 4 – 3RD PERIOD, and DRAMA 3 – 4TH PERIOD
All students in all classes will participate in auditions and callbacks for Richard III, our CCCEPA Drama Shakespearean production for this year. On Friday, all classes will view the school-wide Black History Month Presentation.

Week 4: January 25 – January 29, 2021

Drama 1 – 1st period
This week we will continue reading through the scene for the class and continue rehearsals. Students will complete a line check on the scene text.
DRAMA 2 – 2ND PERIOD
We will be continuing our work on actioning with a short scene and monologue. Students will finalize selections of a monologue or song for their Thursday Project work.
DRAMA 4 – 3RD PERIOD
In our continued work on the Uta Hagen method, we will watch example exercises and resume watching the video of the Hagen instruction, incorporating exercises and principles into monologues from last semester. Students will continue working on short scenes using the Hagen Method.
DRAMA 3 – 4TH PERIOD
Working on Shakespearean sonnets will continue with exercises for performance. Students will view examples of acting from the Royal Shakespeare Company from the acclaimed series “Playing Shakespeare.” Students will also finalize a Shakespearean monologue selection.
