Drama 1 (1st Period)

We will begin presenting final performances of our scenes on Monday.  Beginning Wednesday, we will begin final rehearsal sessions for our Monologue and Musical Theatre audition pieces.

Drama 2 (2nd and 4th Periods)

We will begin presenting final performances of our scenes on Monday. Beginning Wednesday, we will begin final rehearsal sessions for our Monologue and Musical Theatre audition pieces.

Drama 4 (3rd Period)

This week we will continue rehearsing for Drama 4 Projects, which will have their final presentations next Tuesday, May 17.  Students should also schedule their Wednesday Project Final Performances.

Week 16: 5/1/17

Drama 1 (1st Period)

We will continue presenting practice rounds for our comedic scenes in preparation for the final presentations later in the week or early next week.  Wednesday will bring resuming for coaching our monologue and musical theatre audition pieces for presentation on May 17.

Drama 2 (2nd and 4th Periods)

We will continue presenting practice rounds for our physical acting scenes in preparation for the final presentations later in the week or early next week. Wednesday will bring resuming for coaching our monologue and musical theatre audition pieces for presentation on May 17.

Drama 4 (3rd Period)

We will continue presenting practice rounds for student-directed D4 Projects, with Matthew-Monday, Evita-Tuesday, Ella-Wednesday, and Weston on Thursday.  Our continued study of Stanislavki’s System will also be interspersed through the week’s lessons.  Wednesday projects need to be presented in their final form by Wednesday, May 17.

Week 15: 4/24/17

Drama 1 (1st Period)

This week we will continue presenting our practice rounds for our comedic scenes, learning how to apply comedic principles to staging and line delivery in these scenes.  Wednesday of this week we will continue to work on our monologue and musical theatre audition selections.

Drama 2 (2nd and 4th Period)

Practice rounds and coaching sessions continue for our scenes in which we are exploring physical character and physical acting choices.  Wednesday we will either continue working on our study of improvisation (4th Period) and our work on or monologue and musical theatre selections.

Drama 4 (3rd Period)

First performances begin this week for our Drama 4 Projects (Davis, King, and Jordan).  Students will offer commentary on the performances.  Teacher comments will also be offered in order to enhance the student work. Wednesday of this week we will continue to work on our monologue, scene, or musical theatre selections.

Week 14: 4/17/17

Drama 1 (1st Period)

This week we will continue practice rounds for our comedy scenes.  Elements of comedy, as discussed in class, should then begin to be added to the staging and line delivery,  On Wednesday, we will resume our work monologues and musical theatre audition selections after taking a week away from that during Week 13.

Drama 2 (2nd and 4th Periods)

This week we will continue working on our scenes, focusing on the physical choices we make with physical character and specific moments.  Practice rounds and coaching sessions for these scene will continue from last week.  On Wednesday, we will resume our work monologues and musical theatre audition selections after taking a week away from that during Week 13.

Drama 4 (3rd Period)

Rehearsals continue for our student-directed Drama 4 Projects.  Student directors will begin with working and running rehearsals.  We will also resume our continued study of Stanislavski’s acting system, focusing on Elements of an Action.  On Wednesday, we will resume our work monologues and musical theatre audition selections after taking a week away from that during Week 13.

Week 13: 4/10/17

Drama 1 (1st Period)

This week we continue work on our comedy scenes, finishing the line check early in the week.  After the line check, students will revise the blocking based on the comments received before the break.  After discovering elements of comedy should then begin to be added to the staging and line delivery,

Drama 2 (2nd and 4th Periods)

This week we will continue working on our scenes, focusing on the physical choices we make with physical character and specific moments.  Practice rounds and coaching sessions for these scene will begin on Thursday and assigned to the days that follow.

Drama 4 (3rd Period)

Rehearsals begin for our student-directed Drama 4 Projects.  Student directors will begin with read-throughs, table work, analysis, and blocking.  We will also resume our continued study of Stanislavski’s acting system, focusing on Elements of an Action.

Week 12: 3/27/17

Drama 1 (1st Period)

Drama juries will be held this week Monday through Wednesday.  After beginning to present the blocking for the comedic scenes, work on memorization of the scenes will begin. Later in the week, we will continue working on monologue and musical theatre audition selections with in class coaching sessions. On Thursday and Friday, we will continue to  present our blocking for the class and present lines for a line check.

Drama 2 (2nd and 4th Periods)

Drama juries will be held this week Monday through Wednesday.  Our scene work will continue by working on developing physical character through exploring the different physical dimensions of our character’s physicality. On Wednesday, we will continue working on monologue and musical theatre audition selections with in class coaching sessions.  

Drama 4 (3rd Period)

Drama juries will be held this week Monday through Wednesday.  Drama 4 Project Auditions will continue during the jury time during class, we will continue working on monologue and musical theatre audition selections with in class coaching sessions.  The goals for the end of this week is to finalize casting for the Drama 4 Projects and have directors meet with their casts.

Week 11: 3/20/17

Drama 1 (1st Period)

After concluding our work with physical comedy, we will begin to work on our comedic scenes for class by developing a ground plan and blocking.  On Wednesday, we will continue working on monologue and musical theatre audition selections with in class coaching sessions.  On Thursday and Friday, we will begin to present our blocking for the class.

Drama 2 (2nd and 4th Periods)

Our scene work will continue by working on developing physical character through exploring the different physical dimensions of our character’s physicality.  On Wednesday, we will continue working on monologue and musical theatre audition selections with in class coaching sessions.  

Drama 4 (3rd Period)

We will begin auditioning for Drama 4 projects after all of the pitches have been completed.  On Wednesday, we will continue working on monologue and musical theatre audition selections with in class coaching sessions.
