Weeks 1 and 2: 1/4/18 – 1/8/18

Drama 1

Students will begin learning the basics of improvisation. On Wednesday, students will choose a monologue or a musical theatre audition piece for their Wednesday projects.

Drama 2

Students will begin learning the basics of acting craft–physical and vocal. On Wednesday, students will choose a monologue or a musical theatre audition piece for their Wednesday projects.

Drama 4

Students will begin learning the basic concepts of Uta Hagen’s approach to actor training. We will also begin to study Edward Albee’s Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?

Week 18: 12/11/17

Intro to Acting (1st, 2nd, and 4th Periods)

Tuesday we will continue final preparations the final performances of scenes.  Wednesday, December 13 will be the final performances of our monologues and musical theatre selections.  The rubric for this performance may be found here: Monologue and Song Performance Rubric.  The rubric for the scene performance may be found here: Scene Performance Rubric.  Below is the schedule for the final scene performances:

1st Period: Thursday, 12/14: Syncopation/Jake’s Women; Friday, 12/15: Dinner With Friends/A Raisin in the Sun; Monday, 12/18: Waiting For Lefty

2nd Period: Thursday, 12/14: Syncopation/Jake’s Women/Dinner With Friends; Friday, 12/15: Late Night/Beebee/Wonderful World; Monday, 12/18: Proof/A Raisin in the Sun

4th Period: Thursday, 12/14: Syncopation/Dinner With Friends/Jake’s Women; Friday, 12/15: Late Night/Proof/A Raisin in the Sun Monday, 12/18: Waiting For Lefty

Drama 3 (3rd Period)

Thursday and Friday of this week we will view the videos of our D3 Projects from last week.

Week 17: 12/4/2017

Intro to Acting (1st, 2nd, and 4th Periods)
Our work on blocking and memorization continues for our final scenes.  On Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, we will continue rehearsals by adding repetition and working through acting choices.  A line check for the scene will be on Thursday and Friday.  On Wednesday, we will continue our coaching sessions of our musical theatre and monologues. The coaching schedule for our Wednesday work is posted at the top of this page on the “Wednesday Coaching Schedule” page.

Drama 3 (3rd Period)
Our Shakespeare scenes will enter the final phase of preparation for Thursday evening’s performances at 6:30 and 8:00 pm. Notes for the 6:30 pm show will be given on Monday and for the 8:00 pm show on Tuesday.  Wednesday will be a final rehearsal day for all scenes.  No Shakespeare monologue work will happen this week during our usual Wednesday class.

Week 16: 11/27/2017

Intro to Acting (1st, 2nd, and 4th Periods)
Our movement work on Anne Bogart’s Viewpoints will conclude this week as we evaluate and watch recordings of the final Viewpoints Composition.  Blocking and memorization will begin for our final scenes.  On Wednesday, we will continue our coaching sessions of our musical theatre and monologues. The coaching schedule for our Wednesday work is posted at the top of this page on the “Wednesday Coaching Schedule” page.

Drama 3 (3rd Period)
Our Shakespeare coaching sessions will conclude this week as we examine scenes from  The Tempest and The Taming of the Shrew. We will also complete full runs of the D3 Project with the 6:30 pm show on Tuesday and a run of the 8:00 pm show on Thursday.  Friday will focus on technical aspects of the performance (props and set pieces).  We will continue with work on our Shakespearean monologues on Wednesday.

Week 15: 11/13/2017

Intro to Acting (1st, 2nd, and 4th Periods)
Our movement work on Anne Bogart’s Viewpoints will continue this week as we work in small groups developing our Viewpoints Composition.  Practice Rounds for class critique will occur on Monday, rehearsal/revision on Tuesday, and final presentations on Thursday.  On Wednesday, we will continue our coaching sessions of our musical theatre and monologues. The coaching schedule for our Wednesday work is posted at the top of this page on the “Wednesday Coaching Schedule” page.

Drama 3 (3rd Period)
We continue Coaching Sessions for our Shakespearean scenes on Monday (Two Gentlemen of Verona and Hamlet), Tuesday (Othello and As You Like It), Thursday (Much Ado About Nothing and The Comedy of Errors), and Friday (All’s Well That Ends Well and Romeo and Juliet).  We will continue with work on our Shakespearean monologues on Wednesday.

We will continue with work on our Shakespearean monologues, resuming on Wednesday.  We continue blocking and line checks of our Shakespearean scenes on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Coaching Sessions for these will begin on Friday with Macbeth and Julius Caesar.

Week 13: 10/30/2017

Intro to Acting (1st, 2nd, and 4th Periods)
We will complete final scene performances this week. On Wednesday, we will continue our coaching sessions of our musical theatre and monologues. The coaching schedule for our Wednesday work is posted at the top of this page on the “Wednesday Coaching Schedule” page. Our movement work on Anne Bogart’s Viewpoints will continue this Thursday and Friday with a review of the elements of Space in movement. Students should dress comfortably for movement.

Drama 3 (3rd Period)
We will continue with work on our Shakespearean monologues, resuming on Wednesday.  We continue blocking our Shakespearean scenes on Monday and Tuesday.  Blocking and line checks will be this Thursday, and Friday.  Students should be off book for these scenes on those days.
